Spring clean up will be May 16-23, 2015. Dumpsters will be available at the Spring Street brush dump. Non-hazardous items may be put into the dumpsters. Tires, paints, vehicle batteries, oils, and appliances that use Freon are not permitted.
The village will be working on dressing stone alleys as the weather permits. If you are aware of an alley needing attention, please give the village office a call and let us know.
Mulch from the Spring Street brush dump is available to any village resident. The village crews may be available to help load trailers/trucks. Please check at the maintenance building for availability prior to arrival if you will need help loading.
Saturday, May 2, 2015, marks the start of the Bluffton Farmers' Market season. Every Saturday morning from May through October you can find area green thumb and bakers marketing their finest in the Citizen National Bank parking lot on Main Street. This year the Bluffton Chamber of Commerce takes over the management of the program.
Sunday, May 3, 2015, brings blurry eyed anglers to Bluffton as they line the banks of the Buckeye Lake for the annual trout derby. This annual event brings hundreds of fishing enthusiasts to town in hopes of winning first prize, or at least a good meal for the night.
We will also bid farewell to the graduating class of Bluffton University on Sunday afternoon. We wish each of them success and hope they will recall fondly their time as residents of Bluffton.
The Bluffton Community Pool will open Saturday, May 23, 2015 (weather permitting). While the water may be a little chilly, the kids will surely be looking forward to the annual ritual signally the approach end of the school season and the start of summer fun.
The weekend of June 19-21, 2015, will be a very busy time in Bluffton. The annual car show on Main Street kicks off Friday afternoon (June 19). Last year almost 200 cars were on hand for people to imagine and dream about. We hope to eclipse that number this year! The event concludes with a "cruise" down Main Street at 8:00 p.m. The Bluffton Lions Foundation sponsors this annual event.
Once you are done looking at the cars on Main Street, you can head over to Bluffton University track/football field where the annual walk to fight cancer will take place. Events will run through the evening.
But wait, there's more... Plans are also underway to welcome GOBA riders to town Sunday, June 21, 2015. Between 2,200 and 2,500 bicycle riders will call Bluffton home fore the night as they set up tents and camp on Bluffton University campus. Many entertainment and attractions are being planned to help the riders remember their time in Bluffton. Several community non-profit organizations will be assisting with various aspects of this venture.
To close out the busy month of June, the annual fireworks display will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2015. The display happens at Bluffton University football field around 9:30-10:00 p.m. (dark). We would like to thank the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this event and the many organizations and individuals who contribute to make this annual event a success.
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, August 4, 2015, for the second annual Bluffton National Night Out. The event will be held at the Bluffton Community Pool. More details on this project will be posted in the coming weeks.
